Amrhein Takes First in Financial Competition

Moravian’s Amrhein Investment Club was awarded first place in the Undergraduate Core Portfolio at the annual Quinnipiac Global Portfolio Competition held March 21 and 22, 2024, in New York City. The Quinnipiac Global Asset Management Education (GAME) Forum is the largest student-run financial conference in the world, with more than 1,300 students from 120-plus universities worldwide in attendance.

The Amrhein club, which launched in 1962 with $20,000 in seed money, recorded a balance of $4,268,694.98, as of October 24, 2023, placing it among the most successful student-managed investment funds in the country.

Moravian Among Top Graduate Schools

U.S. News & World Report has ranked three of Moravian University’s graduate programs among the top in the country for 2024:

• Speech-language pathology, 136 of 280 (tie)
• Master’s in nursing, 147 of 599 (tie)
• Occupational therapy, 159 of 263 (tie)

RN to BSN Program Ranks Fifth in PA

Moravian University’s RN to BSN program is ranked fifth in best online RN to BSN programs in Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.Org, which remarks on its website: “Created for RNs with multiple obligations, the online RN to BSN at Moravian University produces graduates who can perform at the highest levels. From performing holistic health assessments to caring for challenging populations, graduates become more confident and capable RNs.”

A Fast Track to a Master’s in Music Therapy

Under an agreement between Immaculata and Moravian Universities, graduates with a bachelor of arts in music at Moravian receive guaranteed preferred acceptance into Immaculata’s graduate music therapy program. In addition, Moravian students receive a 20 percent tuition discount on Immaculata music therapy programs.

Filling Shelves in Mo’s Cupboard

Moravian University has been awarded a $19,985 grant from the PA Hunger-Free Campus grant program, part of Governor Josh Shapiro’s PA Hunger-Free Campus initiative. The money will help fund the expansion of Mo’s Cupboard, which addresses food insecurity on campus and provides not only edibles but other resources for students in need.

Awesome Faculty

Natessa Amin, assistant professor of studio art, is the 2024 Wind Challenge Exhibition Series Winner. Established in 1978 as The Challenge and now known as the Wind Challenge, the annual juried competition is committed to featuring the work of exceptional artists living in the Philadelphia region.

Jane Berger, associate professor of history, was elected to the executive board of the Labor and Working Class History Association (LAWCHA).

Jennifer Ostrowski, associate professor of athletic training and director of the doctor of athletic training program, has received the Outstanding Educator Award from the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS).


Success in Community Outreach

Christopher Hunt, vice president and dean for equity and inclusion, and Baru Roberson Hornsby, senior career development strategist, accepted the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce African American Business Leaders Council Award for the Black and Latino Male College Readiness Program of the Lehigh Valley in November. The award is presented to a person or organization that has demonstrated outstanding achievement and engagement within the African American community in the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Moravian University Magazine Wins Awards

On the evening of March 14, 2024, at the annual CUPPIE Awards for creative excellence in marketing and communications, held in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Moravian University’s marketing and communications team won nine awards. Moravian University Magazine—up against several competitive institutions, including Drexel, Lehigh, Muhlenberg, Swarthmore, and Villanova—won four awards:
